Our story

A house that has always had people in it.

Wrenfield has been a farmhouse, a rectory and a family home. Now it is a small hotel, run the way a good house should be.

01

The house

Three centuries, give or take.

The oldest part of the house dates from the seventeenth century; the south front was added by a hopeful vicar a hundred years later. The walled garden is older than both.

02

The people

Fourteen of us, and the dogs.

We are a small team of fourteen, most of us from the villages around. Nobody wears a name badge, and everybody knows where the good walks are.

03

How we run it

Simple things, done properly.

We buy from farms we can drive to, grow what we can, and keep things simple. We would rather do a few things well than many things adequately.

Neat beds of lettuces and herbs inside high brick walls
